SOP for Entry and Exit procedure in Microbiology Laboratory
1.0 Purpose:
1.0 Purpose:
To lay down the procedure for Entry and Exit into Microbiology Laboratory.
2.0 Scope:
This procedure is applicable to all personnel working in Microbiology department and and also for visitors.
3.0 Responsibility:
Microbiologist / Designee: To follow the entry and exit procedure in Microbiology laboratory as per defined procedure.
Head / Designee- QC: To review and Implement and ensure compliance of SOP.
Head / Designee- QA: To approve,implement and ensure compliance of SOP.
4.0 Procedure:
4.1 Entry and Exit procedure for Microbiologist/workers:
4.1.1 Remove street shoes in the shoes rack and enter into change room.
4.1.2 Disinfect your hands with 70% v/v IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) or with Sterillium and rub hands for drying.
4.1.3 Take clean apron, cap and slippers kept inside the cupboard provided in the change room. Place the apron and cap on the cross over the bench and slipper on the other side of the cross over bench.
4.1.4 Sit on the cross over bench and cross the bench. Wear clean slipper,cap and then apron. Make sure that cap covers all hairs completely and apron's Velcro / buttons are closed properly.
4.1.5 Check yourself in the mirror to make sure that you are properly dressed up.
4.1.6 Now again disinfect your hand with 70% IPA or with sterillium and rub the hand. Now open the door and enter into microbiology section.
4.2 Entry and Exit procedure for Visitors:
4.2.1 Open the door of Microbiology section and enter. Disinfect your hands with 70% v/v IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) or with Sterillium and rub hands for drying.
4.2.2 Take clean apron, cap and shoes cover kept inside the cupboard provided in the change room. Place the apron and cap on the cross over the bench.
4.2.3 Sit on the cross over bench and wear shoes cover and cross the bench. Wear cap and then apron. Make sure that cap covers all hairs completely and apron's Velcro / buttons are closed properly.
4.2.4 Check yourself in the mirror to make sure that you are properly dressed up.
4.2.5 Now again disinfect your hand with 70% IPA or with sterillium and rub the hand. Now open the door and enter into microbiology section.
4.3 Exit from the Microbiology Section:
4.3.1 To Exit from Microbiology section go into change room, remove apron, cap and sleeper.
4.3.2 Put apron and cap inside the used linen rack and sleepers at bottom of the cupboard.
4.3.3 Sit on the cross over bench and cross over the other side of bench, wear your shoes and Exit from lab.
