SOP for Entry and Exit in Microbiology testing area
1.0 Purpose:
To lay down the procedure for entry and exit in Microbiology testing area.
2.0 Scope:
This procedure is applicable to all personnel working in the microbiology laboratory and to workers, internal and external maintenance staff, cleaning staff, visitors, auditors, inspectors, or any other persons entering the microbiology laboratory of the facility.
3.0 Responsibility:
Microbiologist : To follow the entry and exit procedure in microbiology laboratory as per defined procedure.
Head-QC : To review and Implementation and ensure compliance of SOP.
Head-QA : To approve , implement and ensure compliance of SOP.
4.0 Precautions:
4.1 Use sterile boiler suit.
4.2 Ensure that all the body parts are covered.
4.3 Person suffering from any injury and disease should not allowed to enter into Microbiology lab.
5.0 Procedure:
5.1 Entry procedure into Microbiology testing area:
5.1.1 Remove Microbiology lab apron, cap and footwear in change room.
5.1.2 Disinfectant your hand with 70% IPA or sterillum. Take pre-sterilized and bag packed Boiler suit, sterilized hand gloves and enter into Airlock-I by opening door using elbow.
5.1.3 Remove watch, jewellery, wallet and other unwanted items into box. Disinfectant your hand with 70% IPA or sterillum.
5.1.4 Open the door using elbow and enter into Aiorlock-II. And cross the cross over bench.
5.1.5 Wear sterilized head gear, apron and after that bootties and lastly gloves. Disinfectant your hand with 70% IPA or sterillum and enter into testing area.
5.2 Exit procedure from Microbiology testing area:
5.2.1 After completion of analysis enter into Airlock-II. Remove boiler suit in reverse procedure firstly hand gloves, bootties, apron and then head gear.
5.2.2 Enter into Airlock-I. Discard the used boiler suit into soiled linen bin after packing into polybag. Take back jewellery or watch, wallet and enter into change room and wear apron, cap and footwear.
