SOP for Operation of Water Bath
1.0 Purpose:To lay down a procedure for operation of Water Bath.
2.0 Scope:
This procedure is applicable for operation and calibration of Water Bath having Make- Thermolab in laboratory.
3.0 Responsibility:
Officer / Designee:To follow operation procedure as per SOP.
Head/ Designee - QC :To review and ensure compliance of SOP.
Head/ Designee - QA :To approve, implement and ensure compliance of SOP.
4.0 Procedure:
4.1 Operational Procedure:
4.1.1 Ensure that the equipment is clean and suitable for use. If not, clean the equipment using a clean duster.
4.1.2 Add sufficient quantity of purified water in equipment so as to dip the heating coil completely under water.
4.1.3 Cover the water bath with the lids provided with it.
4.1.4 Connect the power cord of equipment to electric supply and put on the main switch provided on the right corner of the equipment.
4.1.5 Set the desired temperature of the water bath by pressing "SEL" button and adjust the "UP/Down".
4.1.6 Rotating the safety thermostat to adjustment knob for desired temperature.
4.1.7 Allow the temperature to reach to the set temperature.
4.1.8 Once the set temperature is achieved, water bath is ready for the use.
4.1.9 Ensure that the heating coil of the equipment is dip in water always.
4.2 Calibration:
4.2.1 All the essential components of water bath are calibrated by outside party once in a year.
4.3 Maintenance:
4.3.1 When equipment is under breakdown put the tag stating "UNDER MAINTENANCE" with date and sign of the analyst inform to Head QC.
4.3.2 Head QC will inform to the Engineering /equipment manufacturer / service person.
4.3.3 After completion of major repairing / servicing job, calibrate the equipment to ensure the proper working.
