SOP for Temperature and Relative Humidity Monitoring in Microbiology Laboratory

Standard operating procedure for Temperature and Relative Humidity Monitoring in Microbiology Laboratory

1.0
Purpose:

To lay down a procedure for temperature and relative humidity monitoring in microbiology laboratory.

2.0
Scope:

This procedure is applicable for monitoring of temperature and relative humidity in Microbiology laboratory.

3.0
Responsibility:

Microbiologist / Designee
:
To follow monitoring procedure as per SOP.

Head/ Designee - QC
:
To review and ensure compliance of SOP.

Head/ Designee - QA
:
To approve, implement and ensure compliance of SOP.

4.0
Procedure:

4.1

Use Calibrated digital Hygrometer for the monitoring of temperature and relative humidity of the microbiology area.

4.2
The hygrometer is placed in identified location like media preparation room, Incubator room, Testing area and other required area.

4.3

Hygrometer will show 3 figures. One is time, second is temperature and last is for Relative Humidity.

4.4

Record the observed temperature and relative humidity in the format. Record minimum and maximum temperature and relative humidity.

4.5
Acceptance criteria:

4.2.1
Temperature: NMT 25oC ± 2oC.

4.2.2
Relative Humidity: NMT 55% ± 5%.

4.6
Frequency:

4.3.1
Thrice in a day.

4.7
Note: If any discrepancy is observed in the temperature of the room, inform to Head/designee. Head/ designee shall take necessary action in co-ordination with Head/ designee -Engineering for rectification of the problem.
